Folks in today’s class get their first taste of pine tea. This is also known as Spruce Beer. I suppose that’s kind of like Root Beer, but this is, instead, a tea made with the needles of a Juniper…

Watch the fun reactions!

Pine tea saved the lives of some 17th century trappers who had been stranded in the Great Lakes forests in the winter. By February, when the Indians found them, they had severe cases of scurvy, and the Indians then nursed the men back to health with a drink similar to this.

Don’t forget… the next class is on May 18. We’ll meet at the same time: 10am, and the same place: by the pond.

See many of you there!
